Okay, I'm in the middle of season 2 and smack dab in the middle of the Look at the Princess arc. And I'm smacked in the face with a plot hole. Plot hole as follows: John Crichton finds himself with the choice of marrying a princess that he's genetically compatible with or being taken by Scorpius and having his brain dug out with a spoon. He chooses the princess and immediately after the wedding, they both are transmuted into bronze statues for 80 cycles. he can still see, hear, and think, and (and this is important) communicate by way of a headset.

Here's where it gets good: Evil Prince Clavor who wanted the throne and Ambassador Scary Scarran Guy who promised to get it for him waltz into the hall, discuss their mutual hatred for Johnny boy and their failure to kill him and get the throne, and neatly slice Statue-John's head off with a laser with the intent of dumping it into foundry acid. Where's the plot hole in that, Lizzie?, I hear you cry.

Well, apparently the Dastardly Duo have forgotten that the princess is all statue-fied right beside John on the dais. Did they forget that she can see, hear, and communicate too? And presumably Queen Momma is having a lovely meeting with her daughter every day to discuss that day's political proceedings, isn't she? What stops Princessy from reporting to Momma all the details, especially when everybody's running about like decapitated chickens wondering where Statue-John's head is at? Now, when watching the episode, nobody thinks to even talk to Princessy until the next episode during the denouement. So WHYINHELL DIDN'T THEY THINK TO ASK THE WITNESS STANDING RIGHT THERE? Lord, but ppl on TV can be so DUMB!

[edited to add]: But I do *love* the jewelry the royals wear in this episode. Examples here, here, and here.
