Home, safe!

I got back from Tha Mom's yesterday. I had a lovely christmas, and got nice presents, and had a lovely drive back from Roanoke. the knitting shop in Staunton, VA named On The Lamb is, alas, closing this month, so I made sure to get out of town early enough Sunday to stop off there. For under $35, I got four skeins of laceweight Plymouth Baby Alpaca (1758 yds total) in natural, one skein of Zephyr wool-silk (620 yds) in wine, about five tiny balls of assorted odds and sods, two of which are, I think, Malabrigo, a bottle of wool wash in grapefruit scent, and three pairs of FREE wooden needles. The guy who runs it intends to reopen after he's taken stock and chosen his new direction so I'm going to register my email address so I'm kept tabbed up. There was some delightfully patterned sock yarn, but I really couldn't bring myself to pay $19.95/ball even at 25% off. I also got as an Xmas prezzie a single ball of Golden Line Superior cashmere/silk blend in blue. This was the stuff I fell in love with at the Roanoke needle shop and blanched when I found out it's $25/ball. It's luscious. I keep holding it in my hand and caressing it. If only it purred. I'd have a Tribble. Bliss...

After yarn shop, I found that I was in time to stop at Endless Caverns so I grabbed hold of that opportunity to knock another cavern off my list. I've been to Dixie Caverns, Natural Bridge Caverns, Shenandoah Caverns, and now Endless. Next up are Luray, Skyline, and Crystal. I'll see about grabbing deeskogirl and go to Crystal after the play is done. I also found a wonderful sale in Endless' gift shop. I am now the proud owner of an 8 pound rock egg for the handsome price of $25.00. Yay for more rocks & gems!

Have you been to Weyer's Cave?

Huh...you know I had never made that connection before. I've been *in* Weyer's Cave, but hadn't realised there'd be a cave there. It's not one of the Big Name Caverns so I didn't think about it. I've been in a tiny non-tourist cave in Marion VA. I had to wear a spelunkers helmet and slid into the cave on my butt. I'll have to look into Weyer's Cave. Thanks!
