I posit that Children's television can be well written and entertaining

I offer as evidence, Lazytown, which is an Iceland production from a man named Magnus Scheving, an award-winning athlete. It encourages health and fitness in children. The writing is good, the acting is top notch, and it's more fun than a barrel of monkeys. I've watched two episodes on Youtube and found them delightful. I would definitely buy the DVD box set, and I don't have any kids.

Lazytown is highly amusing, is occasionaly a complete crack-fest of weird. The other one we adults end up watching is Backyardigans. Good music, lots of one-liners. Things like Pie Ninjas, and Yetis, and the Moose of the Mists.

I'll get around to those. I'm too enamoured of Robbie Rotten's butt right now...

Lazytown is Icelandic? I thought it was from Canada. IIRC the guy who does Sportacus was a Canadian Olympian.

He's actually an Icelandic aerobic gymnast. The wikipedia article doesn't mention any olympic medals.

Two I might recommend for entertainment value, if not eye-candy value...Phineas & Ferb on Disney Channel and Fetch! with Ruff Ruffman on PBS.
