I had a really good time in Williamsburg this weekend!

I headed south some time after work on Friday and arrived by 10pm. Sat up and chatted with drdemure and loved on the animals until quite late. On Saturday, greyman took me up in his lil' Cessna. The two of us were packed in like sardines, and he flew me over Jamestown Island, their neighborhood, Historic Williamsburg, and Busch Gardens. It was so exciting! The way up was a little bumpy, and I couldn't help gasping every time I felt my stomach drop into my shoes. I wasn't worried about heights at all. Being surrounded by the airplane kept me feeling safe. It was amazing. I've always loved aerial photography and Google Earth pushed down to the highest magnification and being able to see this stuff with my own eyes was such a thrill. Swinging around in big circles gave me a touch of the motion sickness, however, and the minute I felt my tummy go wobbly, I told greyman and we headed back.

That day we watched Kung Fu Panda which I really liked, and 88 Minutes which I didn't. It was well acted, but very poorly written with lots of Handwaving and shrieking over "OMG HE'S GOTTA GUN!!" resulting in general panic and milling about. I got a small bit of delight over seeing Vampire Bill in a bit part as Macguffin In Motorcycle Leathers Who Gets Killed.

That evening we had a pot roast dinner that couldn't be beat and went out to shoot pool with drdemure's son E. He's a nice guy and gave me some good pointers on improving my pool game. Even though there wasn't any kind of a spark, I think he's somebody I could become friends with. I also learned that I like Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, and I've added that to my list of Beers I Like. After we came home, DrD and I stayed up much too late drinking and engaging in that wonderful conversation you get after many many beers. I got a lot of things off my chest, and a lot of good advice. Thanks, sweetheart.

I woke up about 9am with no hangover (thank heaven!), and watched several episodes of CSI with G. I enjoyed another few rounds of "Spot The Celebrity Guest Star" to G's remark of "You're good at that." I spotted Bill Irwin as a Lecter-style serial killer. Frankly, his performance gave me chills and I'm going to cut stitch-group short on Thursday to catch the next episode.

After that, the three of us headed out to Jamestown where we saw a small sample of the museum, and had fun with the guided tour of the re-creation of James Fort and the Indian settlement and replicas of the three boats that the colonists took from England. I've got a bunch of photos of points of interest and some of me with assorted re-enactors. I'll get those edited and posted as soon as I can.

On the way home, I tried to go to this GINORMOUS Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World that could be seen from I95 just after Richmond. The place was *huge* and when you see something so big and garish as that, you simply *must* stop to see. Unfortunately, they closed at 6 on Sunday, so that'll have to wait for another day.

I had a really good time, and hope to do it soon. DrD has also agreed to act as a base-camp for a possible trip to Virginia Beach in the summer.

It was fun having you, and I'm glad you had fun, too. It was great seeing Jamestown again. I'll have to get over there to check out the volunteer situation and see the rest of the museum. Thanks for coming. Having guests really makes me appreciate the special nature of the town I live in. *hugs*

That sounds like a lot of fun!

Don't short the stitch-group, though, there's a repeat this Thursday. The second half of that CSI is after the New Year, I think.
