Quantum of Solace

Oh, it was good. It was very good, if uneven. There were spots where I was on the edge of my seat, biting my knuckles. There were bits where I felt absolutely nothing. I liked it more than the CNN.com reviewer did. Daniel Craig is certainly good at emanating his emotions from an emotionless face. It's something about his eyes.

However, I think I'm at the point where the James Bond tropes are starting to break my disbelief suspension. I mean, for the love of God and little green apples, can't he keep a Bad Guy *alive* long enough for MI6 to get him into an interrogation room? I was getting a little tired of his obsession of vengeance. Although there seems to be some hope for him. Another tired trope: Bond's deadliness towards women. Sleep with the man, and you can sign the death certificate and write "Oh Shit" on your forehead. Somebody oughta put a padlock on his penis.

The technogeekery was done very well. They kept it to Magic Cell Phones, Magic Tabletops, and Magic Walls.

The opening sequence was tired. Really. I thought the opening sequence to Casino Royale was much more clever. And I wish they had had Chris Cornell sing again.

I fell out laughing when I found out Agent Field's first name.

Other than the above complaints, it was still pretty good and more than worth a full-price movie ticket.
