I has a Knitted!

I've finished the first Armsock that cymrullewes started for me when I was Up North. Photos posted to my flicker site. Go and See!!

I thought that I had knitted enough for the item to go all the way up my elbow, but I forgot that when you stretch it to go around the arm, you lose length. Oh well. I'll stitch the other one the same length so they match. I really like the mattress-stitch. One side of the piece wound up a bit lose, which made the mattress stitch a bit tricky, but I managed it. I'm real pleased with how it worked out! and I'm not cowed by the idea of knitting the other one. This is really quite fun! I may even try another one to get the ruffle method down. I can get that copy of Knitting Beyond The Edge from the public library.

I'm a little worried tho. I've discovered that alpaca makes me itch just the teeensiest little bit. We'll have to see if I can stand it. I had hoped that a non-sheep's wool wouldn't give me the problems that sheep's wool does. [crosses fingers and hopes.]

Interesting. Your seam looks somewhat cabled in the photos. It gives me an idea that I don't have time to play with so I'll say it here in hopes that time will find me the last week of December. :-)

It's more that it kind of got wrinkles on my arm as I snapped the photo.
I'll see what I can do about snapping a better not to overxposed photo so you can see better.

Alpaca smells kind of funny. I hadn't noticed until the warmth of my arm brought it out.

We did. Thank you. I need to get Goose to write a thank you note. My laptop is sort of kaput at the moment. It needs a new battery and power connection (if you juggle it, it'll lose power and die. It's the machine I use to check e-mail.)

I realized when I put on gloves yesterday that they were lined with cashmere and I'm allergic to wool. So maybe I'm only allergic to sheep wool; I haven't tried alpaca wool.

Glad you finished them, though!
