I give thanks

I give thanks for my family who I will see Friday night, that momma's recovering well from her back surgery, that my brother and his wife seem to have patched things up, and that I'll get to see my Ain't Jackie (yes, that's exactly how I pronounce it) who has come down from WV and who I haven't laid eyes on since my wedding.

I give thanks that I have a good home, a roommate who is easy to live with, a new car, and that I have just barely enough money to pay for it all.

I give thanks for old friends, ones who have been my bedrock over the last couple years, and ones who are reconnecting with me after hiatus. I give thanks for new friends, who are smart and funny and geekish, and for Librarians who open their homes to a person who can't make it home on a Thursday.

I give thanks for a new office, and co-workers who like and respect me. I give thanks for wonderful customers with whom I've forged a relationship with for the past five years.

I give thanks for the process of healing, and for every person who helps me to do that. I give thanks for the strength to go out and meet new and interesting people, from authors to beautiful cabaret girls to mandolin players.

Thank you. Thank you so much.

Who do you know who plays mando?

(Yes, it was a lovely day yesterday with the Librarian and her family.)

It's a guy named John who's in a celtic punk band called O'Tasty. Their music is *fantastic* live. I can't stop dancing when I go to their shows.

The singer doesn't have a very clear voice, but it's probably better in person. I know someone in Fairfax who plays mando, but it's a different person.
