Minor Surgery today

I went to the dermatologist and had a mole removed from my back.

I've had the mole since I was a child. it was large, over 1 centimeter, raised, bumpy, and itched occasionally. for two years running, my primary physician expressed some worries about it, so I finally got around to making the appointment. I'm fine, no incipient cancers, not even the ginormous mole. it was just big, that's all. But I had them remove it anyway because I can't see the thing to monitor it. It's interesting to find out that my innate distrust of strangers touching me where I can't see them is still in force. Every single time the specialist, or his assistant touched my back those muscles *twitched* in some kind of futile self-defense posture. She numbed me, and he sliced that sucker off and cauterized the wound. That part stank like burning hair. When I dressed, I took the opportunity to look at it in its leedle glass jar of water. it was a lot paler than I remembered, but that's likely because of no more blood flow into it. but it was a huge sucker. they'll test it and make sure of no incipient cancers. if I don't hear from them, everything is fine. I think I've changed my mind about a possible camping trip this week. If I'm likely to be in discomfort, I don't want to deal with it in a forest. so camping in two weeks.

Afterwards, I went to IKEA. I purchased a desk lamp I needed, and priced futons and bookshelves. I'll buy the futon, but not the bookshelves. I'll probably stay with cheap Wal-Mart bookshelves. Does anyone know where one can buy those leedle bookshelf pegs? I've lost one.

In other news, I didn't like the story The Watchmen. It left me hating human nature. But I'm probably going to have to see the film next year. I didn't like the graphic novel V for Vendetta either, but I loved the movie.

Yeah, I totally hear you on the weird back sensations. I get that from my hair sometimes. Plus now my spine is super-sensitive since I had my surgery -- oh, and that was fun, the same TWITCHES but with zero stimulus!

I'm glad you had the mole removed without incident, though. I like my friends to be alive and healthy!

I bought a package of them at Home Depot, I think in the parts and hardware department. (The same area that has the little bins of woodworking screws.)

The ones I bought were labelled 'spoons' but were basically those pegs, with a flat end to hold the shelf level. They look like this:
